Marble Fruit Series — Pear (Unripe)

The Marble Fruit Series by Trine Guldager for Autumn Cph explores the transformation of familiar, everyday forms through material and craft. Each pear is made from Carrara marble in collaboration with a fifth-generation marble workshop in Pietrasanta, Italy, and painted by hand with natural pigments.

The unripe pear represents a moment before maturity. Across its symbolic history, the pear is associated with cultivation and abundance; in its unripe state, these meanings shift towards potential, growth and vitality — the anticipation of what is still to come.

Translated into marble, this temporary stage becomes permanent. Variations in shape, colour and surface are retained as part of the making process, so no two pieces are identical.
