Marble Fruit Series — Peach
The Marble Fruit Series by Trine Guldager for Autumn Cph explores the transformation of familiar, everyday forms through material and craft. Each peach is made from Carrara marble in collaboration with a fifth-generation marble workshop in Pietrasanta, Italy, and painted by hand with natural pigments.
The peach carries a rich symbolic history across cultures. In East Asia, it has long been associated with longevity, prosperity and immortality, while Western traditions connect it with fertility, abundance and sensuality. Its soft, ephemeral form stands in deliberate contrast to the permanence and weight of marble.
Translated into stone, the fruit becomes both familiar and displaced from its natural cycle of ripening and decay. Variations in shape, colour and surface are retained as part of the making process, so no two pieces are identical.
